Why We’re Here

Oh, hai!  It’s Dana from I’m The Loud Friend, taking my shift for Blogathon ’09.  So glad to be here participating this year and supporting the very worthwhile charity that Therapy in the Making chose.

People in the U.S. complain about the health care here.  A lot.  But at least we have health care.  It may not be optimal, but we do have it.  There are a good number of countries in this world that have NO health care whatsoever.  That is where Doctor’s Without Borders come in.   A French organization created in 1971 by journalists and doctor’s exists to provide medical care to parts of the world that would otherwise be without.  They travel to the most depressed areas of the world to provide everything from very basic medical care to very advanced care.  Refugee camps, poor villages, areas that have experienced cataclysmic disasters.  Please take a moment to check out the organization’s website to see all the good they do (they won a Nobel peace prize!!) and make a donation if you can.  Every little bit helps!

I’ll be here for the next 2 1/2 hours, until 9:30pm central time (in the U.S.).  For now I’m going to go find something for dinner.  See ya back here in half hour!
